The URL is the result of the conversion of an IP address via a DNS server. It specifies the location of an Internet resource, such as a webpage or a file.
Here are a few examples: http://www.xyz.com/abc.pdf, ftp://abc.xyz.com, mailto:abc@xyz.com.
